In computer systems, the limit on the amount of data that can be sent through a particular channel. As a result of the increase in computer processing power, many systems now offer the option of transmitting text, voice, still pictures, and full video. Transmission systems installed only a few years ago, to deal with simple text applications, do not now have the bandwidth to carry all the data that is available. See broadband
